London duo Disclosure, made up of brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence, recently dropped The Face EP and are making major waves with their hip hop & jazz inspired clubby 2-step sounds. DOPE VIDEO: Dub FX - Love Someone

This one's an oldie, but one of my favorite things on the internet that I just keep coming back to. Dub FX is a musician originally from Melbourne who makes live beats using nothing but his voice, loopers & effects stations. Here he performs "Love Someone" live on the streets of Amsterdam, a soulful tune over a pumping DnB beat. LOVE IT.

FREE MUSIC: Atem - Grey EP

If you are a fan of deep, expansive, soulful electronic music that sounds like it's bubbling up from the depths of the ocean with a strange, subterranean glow, then this is some of the ABSOLUTELY DANKEST you will ever find for free. Atem, a producer from Vancouver, just dropped this incredible EP of soul-soothing atmospherics mixed with melancholic piano chords and dark garage beats, a fantastically promising successor to the sound Burial made famous. This is some amazing stuff, and I can't wait to hear more from Atem in the future. Drift away to these beats.

FREE BEATS: Radixx - Ridiculouxx

This one's a couple years old, but I just discovered it and so should you... From Raw Tapes Records, Radixx put out this badass beat tape in 2010, full of heavy hitting, swaggeringly un-quantized BOOM BAP with massive grimy, videogame-y synths and crazy sounds & swooshes. Heavy head-nodder, this one is.

FREE TUNE: Cameron King Brown - GOLD

A brother from Austin just posted this incredible instrumental, essentially a pulsating, evolving synth line over some simple bass and sparse, airy flourishes. This tune is like potato chips, I just can't stop listening...

-A shining ray of hope for ATX's next wave of producers. Look out for a jøøls remix of this in the near future!!!

DOPE TRACK: Maidu - The Way I See You (Jack Sparrow Remix)

Maidu, a collaboration between two anonymous producers, recently dropped an EP for their track "The Way I See You" on Smudge Music. The remix by Jack Sparrow is easily my favorite cut - featuring vocals heavily reminiscent of Portishead and trip-hoppy groove and depth, combined with Jack Sparrow's awesome delicate yet driving rhythmic dubstep percussion. The original track is excellent as well - it's got squelchy Tipper-esque synths and an eastern thwomp feel. CHECK IT

DOPE VIDEO: Pogo remixes Pulp Fiction

Australian remix genius Pogo, known for remixing disney's Snow White, Alice in Wonderland, Harry Potter and a bunch of other stuff, has just chopped up one of my favorite movies of all time (and inspiration for my producer name): Pulp Fiction. And it's awesome. ENGLISH MUTHAFUCKA, DO YOU SPEAK IT??????

Lojik is so amazing I can't believe I haven't heard about him before this week. jøøls - Now on Facebook!

Isn't social media just grand? Of course it its. Well from now on I'll be taking advantage of the internet as a means of connecting people and music as much as I can or is necessary. or whatever. What that really means is I've set up a facebook page for my producer alias, jøøls, which is now linked to this blog! (If I've managed to set everything up correctly...)

I know i've barely posted anything since before summer started, but now that I've got my bearings at my summer work I'll finally be able to use my free time productively, that is for posting awesome free tunes and other stuff, particularly releases from myself as jøøls. Within the next day or so I'll release a collaborative track between myself and Mark Rubin AKA Crazy Fingers, created on the day of days, 4/20 2012.
